As with most publishers, the focus at Express Newspapers was the impact of GDPR on their progammatic ad revenue. Much had been written in the industry press in the lead up to the enforcement deadline but with little practical advice and no regulator guidance, there was still a lot of uncertainty as to the specific steps that needed to be taken by publishers to operate in a compliant fashion.

 
 

With in-depth knowledge of the ad tech ecosystem and the programmatic model, we were able to ensure that the GDPR consultancy we provided for this engagement was tailored to the challenges specific to publishers. In addition to general GDPR programme management and support, we gave guidance on the implementation of the CMP (Consent Management Platform), advised on the contractual approach to take with ad tech vendors and made recommendations as to the technical solution for managing consent.
